I just read and enjoyed your article on cold calling for copywriters. My main question is exactly who should a young copywriter call? What sized businesses, what sort of industries, and who within an organisation do I ask to speak to?

Everyone! Unfortuanately (well, it's unfortunate when you're cold calling), every business is a potential client. In my experience, there's no particular industry or business size that's more or less likely to need a copywriter. The only possible advice I could offer is that most really big businesses seem to go through agencies for their creative, so they're normally not the best targets.
